Senior Business Systems AnalystPosition OverviewSeeking a Senior Systems Analyst to support the transition of reporting and data-extract capabilities from legacy mainframe IMS systems to a modern cloud/data-lake environment. This role is heavily focused on requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation, ensuring business reporting needs, data workflows, and downstream integrations are accurately captured and translated into functional and technical specifications. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with enterprise IT environments, legacy systems, and modern data platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct detailed sessions with business stakeholders to understand: Reporting requirements, Data extract workflows, Downstream data consumption needsDocument current-state processes, including Reporting logic, Data sources, Extract schedules, Dependencies within IMS/mainframeAnalyze gaps between legacy processes and future-state cloud/data-lake architectureTranslate business needs into clear functional & technical specificationsValidate requirements with stakeholders for accuracy and alignmentCoordinate and review: Analysis artifacts, System designs, Process diagrams, DocumentationProvide technical guidance related to: Reporting development, Data extracts, Integration processesEssential Job DutiesReview and interpret mainframe IMS data structures, file layouts, and extract processesCollaborate with data engineers/architects to map legacy data ? cloud data modelsSupport design of cloud-based reporting & extract workflowsDefine: Data transformation rules, Metadata, Data lineageEnsure alignment with enterprise data governance standardsFacilitate: Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, Stakeholder workshops/interviewsElicit and document: KPIs, Filters, Delivery cadenceProduce & maintain: Data mappings, Business rules, Data dictionaries, Lineage/data-flow diagramsDevelop test cases & acceptance criteriaSupport User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Validate data accuracy, Confirm report outputs, Verify extract completenessTroubleshoot defects and coordinate resolutionsCommunicate progress, risks, and issues to leadershipMinimum RequirementsYears - Requirement - Experience6+ - Required - Systems Analyst / Business Analyst experience in medium-to-large IT environments3+ - Required - Gathering & documenting requirements for reporting/data extracts3+ - Preferred - Mainframe systems (IMS, COBOL, JCL, batch processes)5+ - Required - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint)3+ - Required - Cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, etc)
